Overview

Join us as we celebrate the 2025 Openness Awards and Paget Lecture

Understanding Animal Research is delighted to invite you to the 12th annual Openness Awards and 88th Stephen Paget Memorial Lecture.

The Openness Awards will celebrate the achievements of the Concordat on Openness on Animal Research. The evening will recognise and reward best practice in openness on animal research, following nominations made earlier in the year.

The awards will be followed by the Paget Lecture, which will be given by Professor Dame Sarah Gilbert, DBE, FRS, FMedSci, FRSV, Professor of Vaccinology, Pandemic Sciences Institute at the University of Oxford, who initiated and led the development of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine (Vaxzevria) in 2020. Vaxzevria was one of the first vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 approved in the UK, it has been used in over 180 countries and is estimated to have saved more than six million lives worldwide.

The title of Sarah's lecture is 'Development of vaccines against outbreak pathogens'.
