Organiser Ripon Poetry Festival

Organiser of Steve Ely: Ted Hughes and Yorkshire

Following the success of the first two Ripon Poetry Festivals, this October sees another bumper weekend of poetry readings, perfromances, workshops and book launches for poetry-lovers of all ages.

The line-up includes well-known poetrs Linda France, Jack Mapanje, Kate Fox, Bob Beagrie and Andy Willoughby; events at Evolve, The Walled Garden and Jennyruth Workshops; local poets Hazel Cameron and James Turner; children's poet Sue Hardy-Dawson; a writing workshop with Ann and Peter Sansom; readings by Ripon Writers' Groyp; a talk about the poetry of Yorkshire; book launches by Carol Mayer and Kate Swann; an exhibition of paintings inspired by the work of festival poetrs; the festival anthologylaunch and pop-up readings all over the town centre.

This year's festival is dedicated to the memory of David McAndrew and Elizabeth Spearman, two very good poets who were both founder-members of the Ripon Poetry Festival.
