Event description

Description

Back by popular demand, join us on Saturday June 29th for a hands-on embroidery workshop with Caroline of @material.magpie and learn how to re-use, repair and recycle your old clothes using sewing techniques, inspired by our new COLOUR theme in our Good Shop.

The aim of the workshop is to learn new skills by repairing, personalising & re-energising an old item of clothing using hand stitching. This time round Caroline will also combine easy DIY dyeing methods (with flowers + steaming) with stitching/patchworking, both inspired by Audrey Louise Reynolds (you can currently see Audrey's handstitched tulips in the front window of Fashion for Good as one of the six brands curated as part of our new COLOUR theme).

Breathe a new life into something that you no longer wear & learn the skills to extend the life of worn items. By the end of the session you will have designed and created your own embroidered patch that can be stitched on to clothes to refresh & upcycle them.

Workshop duration: 3 hours - you can take your time and use the whole time, or if you are super speedy you can leave early too.

Suitable for beginners - no previous sewing experience necessary

Feel free to bring along a piece of clothing you'd like to refresh

Get creative and have fun whilst saving the planet – become a storyteller & stitch something unique, fun and powerful!
