About this event
If you can't make the event anymore, please be sure to cancel your ticket well in advance to give others a chance to attend.
Stitch, Stretch and Snack is a workshop by Craft Forward as part of the Mayor's Community Weekend 2025. The event will be combining our much-loved knitting and crochet club for Blankets for London with a gentle group stretching session led by Lily Van Horssen and a delicious vegetarian shared lunch catered by Bakes N Tings.
The session starts like a relaxed and welcoming knitting and crochet group, open to beginners and experienced makers to come together, connect, learn more about the craft and its radical history. The squares produced will go towards the London rendition of our flagship initiative Blankets for the World, Blankets for London.
“Blankets for London” is Craft Forward’s seasonal project where we assemble blankets to donate to unhoused individuals in London through our partner charities.
The second part of the session will be a gentle stretching session. Tailored to all levels of ability and all bodies, this session aims to improve physical well-being, flexibility, and balance with very gentle movements and breathing.
After the 30 minutes gentle stretching session, we will be enjoying dome delicous vegetarian caribbean food together.
What to bring: wear comfy clothes for the stretching, all knitting and crochet materials are provided! If you are an experienced knitter please bring your own knitting needles; if you are a beginner, come along and we will help you start your knitting journey! If you're a crocheter, come with your favourite hook, or you can borrow one from us!
I want to participate in "Blankets for the World": please check out your closest collection hub by clicking HERE.
We are collecting already assembled blankets. Our Standard size is 100x140cm, or 35 squares. We are prioritising collecting already assembled blankets from this year in the hope of helping out our volunteers and ultimately distributing more blankets to people experiencing houselessness.
If you are planning on contributing less than 35 squares, you can post us 20x20cm squares of any yarn thickness and stitch pattern (ends weaved in please!)
We are not accepting yarn donations at this time.

Pictures will be taken during this session: please let us know if you'd rather not be photographed, we want to make sure everyone is comfortable.
