Event description

Description

A one day workshop with mixed media artist Helen Hallows.

We will start the day with a walk in the beautiful park that adjoins Long Eaton Art Room. Capturing the mood, colours and textures of the day we will return to the studio where we will create some swatches inspired by what we have seen. I will share my techniques for stitching on paper and collage and you will experiment with machine embroidery.

You will end the day with a small stitched collage and a range of techniques to develop in your own creative work.

YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN SEWING MACHINE. This needs to be suitable for freehand embroidery. This means you need to be able to drop the feed teeth and attach a darning foot to allow for free movement. You will also need a sketchbook.  All other papers, threads etc are provided.

The day runs from 10 - 4 and costs £65. Tea, coffee and cake are provided. You will need to bring your own lunch.

If you have attended my one day workshops earlier this year you will be able to stitch into the collage you have been creating.
