Stitched Shibori
Event Information
About this event
Shibori is a Japanese resist dyeing technique which produces unique patterns on fabric. This introduction to Shibori Nui uses running stitch alongside the pleating and folding techniques of this practice, allowing greater control and variation of the patterns.
The morning will be spent stitching patterns into the fabric and the afternoon dyeing. This is a slow process but a rewarding one. You will leave the workshop with your own designs and new knowledge of the methods of Shibori which you can incorporate into any future projects.
I would recommend wearing wear old clothings (incase of splashing), an apron and bring rubber gloves, and a plastic bag or container to take away wet indigo pieces.
Tea/Coffee/Cake provided but please bring a packed lunch. The workshop is in my home and garden. I have 2 cats (who usually hide) and a small friendly dog.
There is parking on my drive and only one step into my house.
