Always wanted to make your own clothes but not sure where to start? Or have you already made some garments but need some help with technique? This 4-week course is for you!
Over four two and a half hour sessions, our tutors Sarah and Win will be on hand with expert guidance as you create a garment from a pattern of your choice. No need to fear tricky construction such as inserting invisible zips or fathoming sleeve plackets!
Thurs 5th June - 6:30pm-9pm
Thurs 12th June - 6:30pm-9pm
Thurs 19th June - 6:30pm-9pm
Thurs 26th June - 6:30pm-9pm
Bring along your pattern and fabric and we’ll help you take it from there.
This is a mixed-ability class, so you’ll learn at your own pace. What you can complete in four weeks will depend on the complexity of your garment and how fast you work! As an example, you can expect to complete a straightforward shift dress to a good standard in this time. Fast stitchers are welcome to work on more than one project during the course.
SKILLS: Using a pattern, understanding pattern instructions, constructing a garment and making adjustments for fit.
LEVEL: Beginner, Intermediate.
To join this course you need to be familiar with a sewing machine and have completed a few machine-sewn projects. Not there yet? Complete one of our beginners courses first.
BRING: Bring your own pattern and the fabric you'd like to use, plus any interfacing, zips or buttons that are required. The ticket price does not include any materials other than a limited selection of thread. All equipment will be provided, including sewing machines, overlockers, irons, etc.
*PLEASE NOTE: As a small not-for-profit cooperative, our time and resources are always stretched to the max. In the event that a workshop doesn’t reach it’s minimum capacity, we will need to reschedule it. If this happens, you’ll be given as much notice as possible and your booking can be transferred to a future date or refunded. Please refer to our cancellation policy for terms and conditions. We hope you understand and thank you for your support.

Frequently asked questions
There is no onsite parking. There is permitted residential parking nearby. Please get in touch closer to the time for details on where to park and request a visitor parking permit. hello@stitchedup.coop
During our workshops we encourage you to use our machines – especially when learning to sew. Most sewing machines are similar, so the skills learnt are transferrable to your own machine. If you would really like to bring your own then we can accommodate this see FAQs for more details
We supply all equipment and most materials for our workshops. However, for some workshops you may be asked to bring additional materials such as fabric or clothing to upcycle – this will be highlighted in the Bring section of the event listing. See FAQs for more details
For this course you will need to bring a sewing pattern and some fabric to make your chosen garment. We’d suggest choosing the pattern first and then buying the type of fabric recommended for that pattern. See our blog for more advice www.stitchedup.coop
