Fancy learning to sew and make a garment in a day? In this one day workshop we’ll take you from sewing zero to pyjama-making hero!

Morning: Pass Your Sewing Machine Driving Test! Our 2.5-hour crash course covers all the basics of using your sewing machine. You’ll finish the morning session with a certificate and appliqued ‘L’ plate.

Afternoon: Pyjama Bottoms Workshop – Learn how to cut fabric from a pattern and put your newly mastered sewing skills to the test making a pair of pyjama bottoms in your chosen fabric.


SKILLS: Threading a sewing machine, basic manoeuvres, learn how to hem, seams, reverse, forward, turn corners, finishing off your work, stitch settings and tension control, using patterns.

LEVEL: Adult (aged 17+), Suitable for complete beginners

BRING: Equipment provided. We have a small selection of reclaimed fabrics to choose from and buy but if you’d prefer to bring your own you’ll need 2.5 metres of a non-stretch cotton type fabric.

*PLEASE NOTE: As a small not-for-profit cooperative, our time and resources are always stretched to the max. In the event that a workshop doesn’t reach it’s minimum capacity, we will need to reschedule it. If this happens, you’ll be given as much notice as possible and your booking can be transferred to a future date or refunded. Please refer to our cancellation policy for terms and conditions. Is there parking nearby?

There is no onsite parking. There is permitted residential parking nearby. Please get in touch closer to the time for details on where to park and request a visitor parking permit. hello@stitchedup.coop

Can I bring my own sewing machine?

During our workshops we encourage you to use our machines – especially when learning to sew. Most sewing machines are similar, so the skills learnt are transferrable to your own machine. If you would really like to bring your own then we can accommodate this, but please make sure it’s been recently

Are materials provided?

We supply all equipment and most materials for our workshops. However, for some workshops you may be asked to bring additional materials such as fabric or clothing to upcycle – this will be highlighted in the Bring section of the event listing. If you don’t bring the materials you need, we may have
