Join Laura burrill, Community Arts Practitoner & Textile Artist, for a relaxed session at the local library, a peaceful space for those who enjoy a slower, more reflective way of making. As part of the Stitching Ashbourne project, participants will explore simple textile techniques and create a piece to add to the larger community artwork. It’s a lovely opportunity to pause, stitch, and connect, with creativity, with others, and with Ashbourne itself.
About the Project
Stitching Ashbourne is about community, creativity, and connection. Together, we will create a large-scale embroidered textile work that celebrates the built and cultural heritage of Ashbourne.
Surrounding a centrepiece depicting some of Ashbourne's most iconic buildings will be over 100 hand-stitched squares, each one telling a unique story, memory, or celebration of what Ashbourne means to its people. Whether you’re 6 or 95, this is your chance to stitch your story into Ashbourne’s history.
Come along, bring a friend, and be part of something truly special. Together, we’ll stitch Ashbourne’s story.
This and all Stitching Ashbourne workshops are free to attend. Donations towards the project are very welcome via our crowdfunding page. https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/stitching-ashbourne
