We invite you to experience Motherhood Q(G)uilt, a touch-interactive quilt embedded with the voices of 12 new mothers in Wales- a unique way to share the emotional realities of infant feeding. Made from donated baby clothes, the quilt activates audio recordings that reveal honest, often unspoken stories of guilt, pressure, and resilience.
Alongside the exhibition, attendees are invited to join a collaborative craft workshop and discussion. This interactive session offers a space for parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to reflect on their own experiences, explore the tension between lived realities and public health messaging, and connect with others in a safe, supportive environment for storytelling.
Combining craft, conversation, and community, this event reimagines how maternal care and infant feeding experiences are understood and supported in Wales.
This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 6 - 15 November 2025. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, with generous support from Research England, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
