The Poverty Proofing© team at Children North East are working in partnership with Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council to deliver a series of online training sessions to increase awareness and understanding of what life is like for those living in poverty.
This session will look at the diverse experiences of people living in poverty, and seek to generate informed discussion about ways in which we may unintentionally promote stigma or limit an individual’s access to participation and opportunities within our settings.
We will cover:
- Definitions of poverty
- What we mean by child poverty
- A brief description of the Poverty Proofing© process
- Who is affected by poverty
- Causes of poverty
- Consequences of poverty
- Poverty and decision making
- What you can do to remove barriers to engagement
This first session is repeated through September and October, so please only register once for the date and time that suits you best.
We will be delivering Session 2 in January and February 2026 and Session 3 in May and June 2026.
