Description

DESCRIPTION

We are delighted to be hosting the third Spaces of Hope Hubs Network in partnership with two wonderful organisations in Woodley; Alvanley Family Practice and Startpoint Coffee Shop.

What:

Each session we will share stories of inspiring work that is taking place as part of the host project, alongside a process of appreciative enquiry, allowing us to apply 1 of 7 common principles of Spaces of Hope across each project, place and network, illustrating how all of our hubs are made up of Spaces of Hope. This time the project we will be look at is Alvanley Health Champions. We will form actions and recommendations that we will take away with us each month and generate a groundswell of knowledge and practice that will help us to curate more healthy and hopeful hubs across Stockport.

The Alvanley Health Champions: “Health Champions are people who, with training and support, voluntarily bring their ability to relate to people and their own life experience to transform health and well-being in their communities. At Alvanley Family Practice we have a group of 20 patients who are able to gift us their time and skills to improve the health of the whole community. They have worked with us to source and develop activities that address social isolation, loneliness and wellbeing, introducing a Wellbeing Prescription that we can use to signpost our patients to non-medical solutions.”

When:

The sessions will run from 1815 and finish no later than 2000 at venues across the locality. Session 3 is at Start Point Coffee Shop, with the Alvanley Pactice Champions.

How:

Each session will commence with refereshments and networking, before hearing from our host and engaging in a facilitated discussion applying one of the Spaces of Hope principles.

The Network will generate a range of outputs in addition to the monthly coaching sessions including, digital media that is open access to all Spaces of Hope Network attendees; a weekly Spaces of Hope twitter gathering, addressing the stories and principles for that month; A Spaces of Hope Hubs Recipe Book for Healthier and more Hopeful Hubs that allows every person, place, project and network in Stockport to access tips, tricks and connections, so that they can curate their own Spaces of Hope at scale, even after the network is over. Finally, the Network will link in with other Spaces of Hope projects taking place elsewhere, all linked by a common framework and shared principles that promote missional, outward facing and partnership driven expressions of how we serve each other and shape our public space.

-------

History of the Hubs Network

The Spaces of Hope work has grown organically from a fledgling initiative at one church, to a movement with recognition across Diocese of Chester including existing work in Stockport and Chester. Spaces of Hope has successfully addressed partnership driven conversation across sectors, delivered a framework for developing issue oriented agendas and a mechanism for developing and informing strategy. In April 2017, Spaces of Hope in partnership with Stockport Together, identified a specific set of tools and way of modeling partnership in our community hubs across Stockport. Since then we have been building connections across Stockport, understanding the existing work that is in place to combat social isolation and loneliness. We have included examples from Stockport Credit Union, the Olive ROC Centre in Edgeley, Parish Nursing in Great Moor and Story Time in St Alban's Offerton. Please visit our website www.spacesofhope.co.uk for more information and videos about each of the featured hubs.

In 2018, we will be delivering the Spaces of Hope Hubs Network across Stockport. This will build on examples of best practice and share the Spaces of Hope Principles, such that we will cultivate connectivity and reduce social isolation and loneliness in Stockport.
