Stockroom Creative Network #3 - Sam Buckley (Where the Light Gets In)

Stofordian artist and chef Sam Buckly fell into cooking whilst studying art, starting as a waiter before finding his home in the kitchen. He has been described as having an artist’s sensibility and a “punkish energy.” He has worked under the likes of Paul Kitching, Simon Rogan, and Gary Rhodes, toured with various bands, and after completing a journalism degree, forged a parallel path in writing.

He opened his celebrated restaurant Where The Light Gets In (WTLGI) in 2016, and in 2025, launched the burger pop-up Humbug in Manchester to immediate acclaim.

Sam’s work is rooted in provenance and a deep sense of place, braiding a fierce dedication to local ingredients with a globally informed, artistic perspective: foraging, fermenting, collaborating, writing, and creating spaces for genuine culinary discovery.
