The theme for this year's Local London Guiding Day is Shadows of the Past.Discover the heart of Stockwell and the people and places that shaped it during this 50-minute tour. Hear the story of pioneering botanists, a church that employed a world-famous composer and someone who brought fairy tales to life with a sense of mystery and a hint of a shadow.
Meet at the Stockwell Memorial Garden, next to Stockwell underground station, SW8 1UQ.
This walk will begin on the hour, every hour on Saturday 4th October. The first tour leaves at 10am, and the final tour of the day leaves at 4pm. It is part of the Local London Guiding Day – Free walks across London annual event, when several London boroughs offer free walking tours throughout the day. The walk is mostly flat, on paved ground. There are no steps or narrow paths. We will do our best to accommodate participants' needs.
The walk is not unsuitable for children, but delivery of the content is aimed at adults. Interested children are welcome to join us.

The walk is all outdoor. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
The walk begins near Stockwell Tube Station on the Victorian Line & Northern Line. The walk ends on Clapham Road, about 8 mins walk to Stockwell Station, and 10 mins to Oval, which is on the Northern Line. There are also buses on Clapham Road. Plan your route on https://tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/.
