Stoicon-x London
Event Information
Description
Stoicon in London is one of a series of events happening all over the globe in conjunction with Stoic Week, an international and now regular experiment encouraging people to ‘live like a Stoic for a week’. First developed in 2012, Stoic Week is an opportunity for participants to learn about the ancient philosophy of Stoicism, to see if its practical advice might help them in their own lives, and to help the team behind Stoic Week assess its efficacy. Stoicon is a public event comprised of a series of talks and workshops enabling participants of Stoic Week and others to come together and share their experience of the project. After a series of talks in the morning, the afternoon will comprise of two rounds of smaller workshop sessions, the first on specific topics, the second focused on Stoic Week.
This year’s event is generously hosted by the Institute of Philosophy, part of the University of London’s School of Advanced Study, and generously supported by Royal Holloway University of London. You can see short films about previous events here (Birkbeck, 2013) and here (Queen Mary, 2014).
