After the huge success of last year’s event, we are very pleased to be hosting Stoke on Trent’s 2nd Academic Achievement Awards 2016. On Thursday 10th November 2016, 6-8:30pm at the Moat House Hotel, Etruria, Stoke on Trent ST1 5BQ.
It will be a black tie event recognising and encouraging, inspiring and motivating academic achievement within our wide community.
As you know academically young people from Stoke on Trent have been underperforming on a national level. We are running this event for pupils and parents to raise ambition and future aspirations.
This is a cause close to my heart, as a qualified teacher of mathematics and a head teacher, I have taught in schools, in Stoke on Trent and around the UK. I have witnessed the lack of ambition, and drive and this is especially prevalent in Stoke on Trent.
This event aims to change this, we aim to put a greater emphasis on the importance of education and foster an environment which encourages and supports academic achievement within the community and at home. We believe this will bring better opportunities to Stoke on Trent, and develop a more active, diverse and integrated community.
The evening will include an award winning speaker and entertainment, an awards ceremony where every nominated student will receive a special award and a delicious 3-course meal.
During the evening we will be awarding high flying KS2, GCSE and A Level students who have achieved under our criteria. Furthermore, this year we are very excited we have some new awards including, ‘The Young Person of the Year Award’ and ‘The Teacher of the Year Award’ and have enlisted the help of a judging panel including head teachers from around the city.
As this is a non-profit event, aimed to inspire our young people to aim high and work towards achieving their potential. Nominated students receive a free ticket. We kindly ask for a £15 ticket contribution from all parents, siblings and other guests you may wish to bring.
We are very excited about this event and hope you can join us to celebrate local academic achievement.
