'Stone Age Survival' day for home educated children, led by experienced outdoor practitioners.
This tailored day supports the Key Stage 2 Curriculum and is suitable for ages 7 - 12.
Step back in time to survive stone-age style. You'll need to apply your problem-solving abilites and creativity as you explore how to make the most of natural resources:
- Construct survival shelters from natural materials
- Practice firelighting techniques
- Make a stone age tool and clay 'thumb pot'
- Create some 'cave art'
- Finish with a campfire
Learning Objectives
- Explore how people in the Stone Age would have survived (including survival needs, still applicable today).
- Find out about some of the rocks used during the Stone Age, including their properties and applications (e.g. flint, slate, clay, chalk – plus bone).
- Explore the use of appropriate materials for a specified task and criteria (e.g. a waterproof shelter or pot, shaping tools, lighting a fire).
- Collaborate with others in a group to solve a problem or make a decision.
- Develop group working skills, e.g. negotiating, problem-solving, debating.
- Evaluate their work, identifying strengths and areas for development.
- Practice resilience to succeed in new challenges or develop existing skills.

Time: 10am-3pm (with 30 minute lunch and 15 minute snack break)
Cost: £30 for first child (including parking).
£25 per additional child (select 'add-on' at check out).
