Description

Creating respect, tolerance and kindness

Invitation to a free ‘Train the Trainer’ event at Eton College run by Stonewall

This is a Train the Trainer course, run by Stonewall and hosted by Eton College, which will take place on Thursday 24th January 2019, 9.30 am - 4.30 pm (registration from 9.00 am) in our Centre for Innovation and Research in Learning. We are looking for fifteen delegates from partner schools to join the course, which will have a total of 30 delegates. The course is available to colleagues from primary, secondary or special schools. There is no charge for joining the course.

The aim of the day is to equip delegates to train other staff and educate children in anti-bullying tactics. It offers strategies to help ensure an inclusive environment. Its aim is to educate and equip staff to lead the way in removing fear, hatred and prejudice, and to be confident in creating respect, tolerance, and kindness. There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss ways of promoting harmony between the protected characteristics of faith, gender identity, and sexual identity. The approaches advocated work well in combatting other forms of bullying, too.

Completion of this course allows schools to use the Stonewall Champion logo, and gives access to all of Stonewall’s educational materials, including preparing for inspection, dealing with parents, and creating policies. A member of Stonewall’s team will be available to each school to help organise talks, assemblies and events. Each delegate will have access to advice manuals, book lists, tool-kits, and posters at no further charge.

Celebrity supporters such as Sir Ian McKellen, Lea DeLaria, Alan Carr, Rylan Clarke-Neal, Nicole Scherzinger, Jake Graf, Amy Lamé and John Amaechi are part of the team involved in special Stonewall events in schools.

Places will be jointly funded by Eton College’s Inclusion Education, Professional Development and Outreach & Partnership departments.

There are 15 places available for local schools, the costs of which will be covered by Eton.

Only one place is available per school. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have any queries, please contact Tanya Beeton on 01753 370816.

If you are booking on behalf of someone else, please enter the attendee's name and contact details as this information will be used to create name badges.

I do hope that a colleague from your school will be able to join us, and I look forward very much to meeting them on the 24th January.

Kind regards,

Tom Arbuthnott

Director of Outreach & Partnership
