Event description
Public Meeting on the humanitarian disaster in Yemen

About this Event

Come along to hear Fabian Hamilton MP, Shadow Minister for Peace and Disarmament, Sam Tarry, National Political Officer at TSSA Union, Representative from Stop the War, David Wearing, expert on Yemen and the Middle East about the escalating humanitarian disaster unfolding in Yemen.

The Saudi regime is one of the most brutal and authoritarian regimes anywhere in the world. Its ruler, Mohammed Bin Salman is implicated in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey. His government is also the main protagonist of the terrible war on Yemen.

The Saudi led war has already devastated Yemen and killed tens of thousands of people. Aid agencies warn that if it continues it will cause the worst humanitarian catastrophe since World War Two.

The British government stays close to Saudi Arabia and it is argued that this is because Saudi Arabia buys more arms from Britain than any other country, because it is a major oil supplier to the West and because it has long been a key ally in a region the West is desperate to control.

Ending arms sales to Saudi Arabia is essential and urgent. Come to this important meeting to hear about the campaign to make it happen.

Supported by: Redbridge Against the War, Redbridge Trades Union Council and Ilford Momentum.

Redbridge Talks was set up 2018 in order to provide the local community with a place to talk about what matters.
