About this event
This stop motion workshop explores how you can use your digital skills to bring inanimate objects to life. Stop motion involves taking a series of still images and then digitally stitching them together to make an animation. We will guide you through the process of creating your own animated masterpiece using tablets and Stop Motion Studio (a free app for animations on tablets), from designing and creating your characters to filming your story.
This hands-on experience provides an unforgettable adventure where every snapshot is a story waiting to be told.
All tools and equipment are provided, and you’ll be sent your animation to keep at the end of the workshop!
Each session takes 2 hours. Sign up for one of two sessions on Sunday 2nd November:
- 11:00 - 13:00 (aged 7-12)
- 13:30 -15:30 (aged 13-17)
What you’ll do
Join other budding animators to:
- Design characters and plan out your story
- Create puppets, props and backgrounds
- Learn camera techniques to film your animation
- Add sound effects to bring the story to life
Who’s this for?
Our 11am session is open to 7-12 year olds
Our 1:30pm session is open to 13-17 year olds
What do you need to bring?
All equipment is provided. All you need to bring is a sparkling can-do attitude!
If you have any pre-made characters or props (e.g. play figures) that you would like to use, please feel free to bring them with you.
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Every under 12 booking automatically grants entry to an accompanying adult. Due to venue size, we ask that you don't bring more grown-ups so that everyone has plenty of room to create!
Cost
This event is free to attend. We charge a £3 booking fee, which is refunded on attending the event. Or, if you prefer, you can leave it as a donation to MadLab CIC to support future community-led events. Refunds will be processed within seven working days.
