Stop The Silence on Violence
Event Information
About this Event
• One in four women will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime
• In North West London, the NHS recorded 986 cases of female genital mutilation last year
• One in six women have experienced sexual harassment in public
Abuse, no matter what form it takes, is unacceptable and we must Stop the Silence on Violence.
Join us as we mark White Ribbon Day in Brent.
David Challen will deliver the keynote speech. David is the son of Sally Challen, who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her husband. Sally's conviction was later quashed after new evidence emerged about her husband's controlling and coercive behaviour. David campaigns for more support for victims of abuse.
Local organisations will also be on hand to share information and advice about their services.
Attendees are encouraged to wear the colour orange to support the UN's 16 Days campaign to raise awareness of violence against women.
Refreshments provided.
More speakers to be announced.
