Explore the boundary between fact and folklore in our special exhibition for the Scottish Geology Festival!
To commemorate the 190th anniversary of Hugh Miller's book "Scenes and Legends of the North of Scotland", traverse the boundary between fact and folklore and discover the fascinating superstitious explanations behind some of the world's most spectacular fossils; long before the science of geology gave us answers as to what they are.
For this year's Scottish Geology Festival, get up close and personal with fossils usually kept behind the scenes at Hugh Miller's Birthplace Museum and encounter the folkloric stories behind them - from bolts of lightning, to snakestones, to mighty monsters that lurked underground!
