Event description
A journey through the summer constellations of the Northern Hemisphere, with storytelling and a touch of science.

About this event

Looking at the evening sky after sunset from a mid-European latitude, you might notice the orange giant Arcturus, high up on the southern horizon, guarding the Great Bear high up in the North-West. Venus is visible as evening star, closely following the Sun, perhaps to the Underworld. To the East shine Vega, Deneb and Altair, the stars of the Summer Triangle, framing their corner of the Milky Way. Scorpius is visible to the South, Sagittarius follows, rising, while Perseus slowly appears in the North-East, the location of the most prominent summer meteor shower in August.

Join us for an hour's journey through the summer constellations of the Northern Hemisphere, with a mix of astronomy and tales from different cultural perspectives.

Watch this event from the comfort of your own home, or from your garden under the darkening sky via the online platform Zoom. A link will be sent closer to the date.

The event will feature music from musician and sound artist Fallen Butnotdown, whose work you can hear on Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud and all other music streaming sites.
