Event description
Our final leg of Story on Bikes, we start at Inverkeithing but you can join us at Cramond Harbour if you have little ones in tow.

About this Event

Saturday 8th August, 11:30 start. This leg is 14 miles and is designed as a relaxed, family-friendly ride.

Leg 7 of Story on Bikes starts at the Square in Inverkeithing where there are seats, coffee shops and safe places to wait. We then cross the Forth and ride mostly on traffic-free paths to Dalmeny, then down to Cramond Harbour (where you can join the ride if this would be more appropriate for you) and along the water to Newhaven, ending at Milk (Sculpture Workshop). There are some short sections where we are in traffic and the group will be marshalled accordingly.

This leg is designed to be easy and fun, with time to stop at Cramond for ice-cream or similar refreshments. This is primarily a family-friendly leg and so we hope to have lots of children who will be accompanied, of course. It is the responsibility of the accompanying adult to ensure the safety of the children at all times.

Tee-shirts will be supplied in advance but are not compulsory. The only thing that is compulsory is to have fun.

How hard is it?

This leg is 14 miles but almost all flat and most of it traffic-free. It should be accessible to all cyclists.

What is it in aid of?

First and foremost, the ride is a charity event. Its aim is to raise awareness of the story of Mamie Martin and of the work that we do in her memory. we'd also like to raise some money for the Mamie Martin Fund, which supposrts girls at secondary schools in North Malawi.

It would be appreciated if cyclists who take part in the ride raise some money through sponsorship. You can set up a fund-raising page here. If you don't feel comfortable asking your pals for sponsorship money, consider making a donation in your own name. You can find more information about our work on our website.

What support is provided?

This is not a supported ride, there is no support van. You will carry any stuff you need. You will cover all your own travel and personal expenses, including accommodation.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

No but if you are under 16 you must provide the name and phone number of your accompanying adult.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
