Event Details

The autumn programme will continue with a session led by award winning screenwriter, editor and director Faisal A Qureshi who has had his work produced both here and in the USA. He has worked on projects commissioned by DNA Films, Dan Films and BBC Radio Drama amongst others.

Faisal is a visiting lecturer at the Escula Internacional Cine y TV in Cuba where he has led workshops on editing and production. The British Council has also employed Faisal to oversee various short film schemes in Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Greece, Pakistan, Syria and Uzbekistan. He was Associate Producer on the feature film Four Lions (Film Four/Warp Films), directed by Chris Morris that won a BAFTA for Best Debut Feature. He currently has a feature project in development with the Hollywood company Bazelev (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Wanted.)

Faisal will be giving an introduction to script writing including the basics of story telling, narrative construction, outlines and treatments.

So if you want to find out what's involved in writing a script and are not sure how to go about it then this evening is a great place to start.

Learning (and networking) will take place in the friendly atmosphere of the WFA with plenty of free car parking outside and refreshments provided.

The £10 deposit will be refunded to all members who attend or who send apologies in advance if they are unable to attend. So essentially this event remains FREE to members and those on the BECTU Student Register.

This event is open to BECTU non members at the cost of £10.00 with BECTU's usual course cancellation policy applying. (see below)

Please join us for the evening by registering via Eventbrite as soon as you can so we have an idea of numbers for refreshments, etc. and select the ticket that applies to your membership status.

  • if you do not attend the course and/or fail to notify us in advance you will be charged the full course fee.
  • we are unable to reimburse any non-transferable travel or accommodation expenses that may arise from a course being re-scheduled or cancelled.

BECTU North West Training

BECTU courses are designed predominantly for BECTU members. All courses are offered at a discounted rate to BECTU members. In some cases, non-members may apply for these courses but the rates may be higher than BECTU member-rates. We are able to offer cost effective courses because we are part-funded through the Union Learning Fund; it is a contractual requirement with the ULF that we collect Equality and Diversity info for people coming on our courses and we ask for this as part of the sign up process.
