Description

Join author Ross Montgomery for storytime at 2pm on Tuesday 19 February.

On the day, Ross will read from his book Space Tortoise.

This book tells the story of a lonely tortoise who really wants to find some friends. After looking at the stars one night, he wonders whether the twinkling lights are other animals waiting to be found. With this in mind, he sets off on his mission into space…

Storytime finishes with a book signing.

This is a free event

Suitable for ages 3-8yrs

About the author
Ross Montgomery writes weird and wonderful award-winning books for children

He started writing while working as a primary school teacher. His debut Alex, the Dog & the Unopenable Door (2013) was nominated for the Costa Children’s Book of the Year and the Branford Boase Award, and selected as one of The Sunday Times “Top 100 Modern Children’s Classics”. The follow-up The Tornado Chasers (2014) was chosen for the nationwide Booktrust BookBuzz scheme, and his third book Perijee & Me (2016) was nominated for the CILIP Carnegie Award and won the Weald Book Award.

He also writes picture books for younger children, working with illustrator David Litchfield. Their first collaboration The Building Boy (2016) was published to critical acclaim and sold around the world. The follow-up, Space Tortoise (2018), was included in Guardians Best New Children’s Books 2018.

STEAM logoThis event has been brought to you by the STEAM Children’s Book Prize coordinated by UCLan Publishing. The aim of the prize is to highlight the importance of STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, arts, maths) and praise the publishing industry and authors for championing them. By providing children with engaging, fun, and exciting literature, they’ll hopefully be inspired to take an interest in STEAM further into their education.
