About this event

On Yer Bike! is an initiative funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Cycling UK and forms part of the Lottery funded Restoring Stover Park project at Stover Country Park.

We are now seeking volunteers to lead beginners group cycle rides within the Stover Country Park and surrounding area.

This event is the intial group leader training

What you will be doing as a vounteer cycle leader:

· Planning and leading regular rides with other ride leaders

· Welcoming riders and helping to create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere

· Supporting new and less experienced cyclists to build their confidence and ensure no one is left behind

· Carrying out basic cycle safety checks before the ride

· Helping to promote the rides within the local community

· Collecting data (signing up new members and taking a ride register)

The skills we need:

· A confident cyclist with knowledge of local cycle routes

· Friendly, welcoming and encouraging

· Sensitive to others’ needs and able to assess someone’s general wellbeing, cycling level and confidence before a ride

· Able to do simple repairs, including puncture repairs during rides (training will be provided where necessary)

· Reliable and punctual
