Event description
This is a follow up engagement session for the Sustainability Transformation Partnership (STP) Mental Health Strategy.

About this Event

Following on from the successful engagement sessions in October 2019, the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in Herefordshire and Worcestershire are hosting two follow up engagement sessions to further discuss the Sustainability Transformation Partnership (STP) Mental Health Strategy.

These will be structured co-production sessions and will aim to include an equal mix of participants (public members, staff and partners) from each background and/or specialty. The purpose of the sessions is for participants to give their views on the first draft of the mental health strategy and explore how this can be developed further.

Sessions

There are two sessions (one in Hereford and one in Worcester). Both sessions will last three hours and will include lunch.

  • Worcester: Thursday 27 February 2020 - Warndon Hub, Shap Drive, Worcester, WR4 9NX – 10.30 am – 1.30pm
  • Hereford – Thursday 5 March 2020 – Hereford Town Hall, St Owen Street, Hereford, HR1 2PJ – 12.00 pm Midday – 3.00pm

Who are these sessions for?

We are looking for the views of an equal mix of participants with lived and/or work experience of adult and/or child mental health. This includes, but is not limited to; patients, service users, carers, GPs, doctors, consultants, nurses, allied health professionals, other health staff, social workers, social care staff, partner organisations (private and public), voluntary and community sector organisations, psychology staff, management and commissioning staff, Healthwatch.

Book your place

Booking is essential. Please book your place directly on Eventbrite. Online booking will close at 9am, 21 February 2020.

You do not need to have attended the first engagement session to take part in either of these events. Places will be given on a first come, first served basis. To ensure that there is an equal mix of participants from each background / specialty, availability will be limited for each group represented. When booking your ticket, please select the group that you most feel aligned to (you might feel aligned to more than one 'group').

Those who are unable to get a place, will be added to a waiting list and notified if a place becomes available.

Background

Across Herefordshire and Worcestershire all local health and care organisations are committed to providing the best mental health care possible. We want mental health and wellbeing to be high on our local agenda, to ensure members of our communities are aware of mental health and are able to recognise issues in individuals, and to be able to support or signpost appropriately. When things get harder or more serious we want our specialist services to be equipped to provide support as early as possible, with a focus and commitment to recovery.

Organisations across our two counties are working together in partnership to provide services which are safe, effective and sustainable. We think it is important for people to be able to get help and support as early as possible and to live healthy and independently for as long as they can. When more support is needed, we want people to be able to access services quickly, in the right place at the right time.

The CCGs in Herefordshire and Worcestershire are working on behalf of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sustainability Transformation Partnership (STP) to set out a Herefordshire and Worcestershire Mental Health Strategy. We are interested to speak with local people, staff and partners to better understand your views on mental health, so that we can ensure the new strategy meets the needs of local people. We are hoping to gain a greater understanding of what you think works well and where we need to make improvements.

Your views will build upon previous engagement work that has been carried out, but will provide us with an opportunity to work with patients, stakeholders and the wider community to understand what more we need to consider. This is an opportunity to work together to shape our mental health strategy over the next few years, to ensure mental health awareness is embedded across our communities, and to develop new and existing services so that people can get the help they need to support them in their recovery.
