About the event
'Strange Weather Documents: Autumn Rest' is a sound-based meditation event: a quiet, slow space for you to bring your thoughts, reflections, prayers, dreams as we imagine the future sound of nature.Or it can just simply be a time for you to rest.
The sounds slowly provided will be inspired by nature and will be quiet. The sound environment will be interspersed with a few short readings and poems. The meditation will last about an hour after the introduction and welcome.
This is your space so you might want to bring a mat and cushions to lie on, a notebook or paper to write or draw on or in, a book to dip into, a favourite stone to hold, or whatever makes you comfortable.
Attend for as long or as little as you like.If you fall asleep that's a compliment. This is a free event, no booking required. Please do bring your own (quiet) drink and snack if you want to.
Hope to see you there.
About the artist
Daniel Thomas Freeman is an artist working at the edges of sound, music and film. He is currently a postgraduate researcher in Sound Arts at the University of Arts London.
In recent years he has become more and more interested in frequencies, textures, slow change art, less-bound structures, spirituality and investigations into the alchemical nature of sound.
Daniel is currently working to research, develop, contextualise, perform, exhibit and release his current work in progress, 'Strange Weather Documents'. Using analogue and digital synthesizer electronics, he has created hundreds of recordings of imagined futures of insect rhythms, birdsong, weather environments and Aeolian-like instruments as a critique and meditative lament of human impact on the climate.
