Event description

Description

Please note* This event is open to HPMA London Academy Members and is not for comercial members

This network, now in it's second year, has developed into a very engaged network of HR and OD practitioners in senior strategic roles (who do not currently participate in other networks such as the Directors, Deputies or the L&OD network), namely HR Business Partners, Heads of Service in HR, L&D and OD.

We know people who've attended previous meetings will keep coming but the network is also open to new members who haven't attended a previous meeting. As places are limited to 50, we invite each Trust to send one representative, but not more than two unless there are lots of spaces left.

The next meeting will cover four key areas:

- David Amos will give the keynote speech, giving his perspsective on current system change in particular managing the politics of system change.

- Focus on retention and engagement, in particular, ‘what could we do to support you to stay for one more year?’

If you are coming to this event, please bring your top 3 challenges on engagement & retention and top 3 good ideas to share with others.

Speaker panel:

  • Caroline Corrigan, National Director of People Strategy, NHS Improvement

  • Chris Caldwell, Programme Director for the Capital Nurse Programme and Exec Director of Nursing at the Tavistock & Portman NHS FT

  • Raffaela Goodby, Executive Director of People & OD, Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust

  • Lynn Demeda re sharing learning from GSTT and the Retention Programme

  • Dee Mulner, Strategic HR BP at Central & North West London NHS Foundation Trust - Developing HR and OD career pathways for ourselves and our teams

- An afternoon development session on:

Resilience - is it all its cracked up to be? How do we support the wellbeing of those in the NHS towards not only a healthier, happier workforce, but a more productive one too?

This session will de-bunk some of the current approaches to resilience, and wellbeing in the workplace, and look at foundational building blocks for any NHS organisation in regards to healthy, happy and productive workforces. Whilst there is much that is now being done in NHS workplaces to support staff where else can we make headway? Is wellbeing at work an initiative or a new way of working? And, as HR/OD professionals how are we role modelling the future of health and wellbeing at work through our own practice?

All this and more will be discussed in this highly participative session run by Dr. Jane Keep, who has a Phd in Developing Self-care at work and who has worked extensively in the NHS in the last 10 years looking at workplace health, values, integrity, culture, behaviours and leadership. Jane has worked in and around the NHS for nearly 40 years including two positions as Head of OD in large NHS organisations.

If you book on the meeting, please ensure you can come for the whole day until 4.30pm, otherwise you're taking a place when someone else could benefit from the whole session and it's fair to prioritise places for those who can participate in the whole day.
