Who is it for?

This training day is aimed at senior executives in businesses who are in disciplines other than marketing, but now (or soon) will have responsibility for assessing marketing decision requests, challenging marketing colleagues or overseeing a marketing team.

Typical participants are directors who are successful in their own field and have recently joined a Board where they have wider oversight, or have come from a sales background and now have commercial oversight including marketing.

What to expect

This is not a basic level marketing course - we will not be discussing how to write social media posts! This is about strategic level thinking and maximising value for your business.

Topics will include strategic growth, gaining competitive advantage, integrating customer value, maximising effectiveness, assessing marketing communications and optimising marketing performance. By the end of the training you will be confident in how to effectively challenge marketing colleagues, assess proposals and make informed objective decisions.

Who is delivering the training?

Your trainer is a highly experienced professional educator from the marketing industry. Though qualifications and PhD research they have observed interactions between boardrooms and marketing departments, ultimately assessing the impact on the customers of the business. As a certified business educator and professioanlly trained coach, they now are committed to developing executives in this field - with a particular focus on non-marketing professionals.

Location

I'm a director but don't know anything about marketing, do I need basic knowledge first?

No, there is no prior knowledge required. We will be looking at strategic level marketing thinking, not tactical application.

I'm a senior manager/head of department, is this for me?

While originally developed for boardroom directors, this course is also suitable for any managers or heads of department that have interactions with marketing departments and wish to add value at a strategic level.

I'm not currently employed, do I need to be from a business?

No, this is about you and your personal development. You are definitely welcome.

What if I want support afterwards?

I work in marketing, am trained in marketing but want to be a marketing director, is this for me?

We suggest dropping us a message, as this is primarily aimed at senior individuals who do not have formal marketing training already. However, people with an MBA have said previously that this would be a useful addition to what they covered. Give us a message and we'll chat about personal options.
