Event description

Description

This teaching session will cover how to reduce and de-escalate classroom conflict, it will start at 1:15 to 3:45pm.

If you’re feeling tired of dealing with oppositional students or classroom disruption at any level, but want to develop your own skills alongside the zero-tolerance policies common in today’s schools, then come and experience the Lifelines approach to communication and reducing conflict.

Lifelines explains what’s going on in our brains when we feel threatened or under pressure, using simple concepts from current neuroscience.

Once we understand what’s driving people’s moods and behaviour, then we can make constructive shifts in the way in which we communicate with them.

This method, which also draws on practices from Non-Violent Communication, helps students and staff communicate what’s going on inside them, as well as developing people’s ability to reflect on, and regulate their emotions.

We will work with examples from your own experiences and questions, and you will, of course, have opportunities to practice some of the comprehension and communication tools during the session.

Expect to leave with an expanded awareness of what motivates behaviour, and a different tool with which to handle conflicts.

The session is suitable for both primary and secondary school teachers.
