About this event

This practical workshop has been developed using theories of grief and drawing on the experiences of young people. Attendees will explore a range of strategies to support bereaved pupils and develop confidence when talking to young people about death and grief. There will be opportunities to consider procedures within school which promote a bereavement aware culture.

We are able to offer this workshop at £65 due to a kind donation from one of our corporate partners, Derwent London.

Who is this training for?
This training is suitable for all staff working with bereaved pupils in schools including pastoral team members, teaching assistants, teachers, and senior leaders.

What will I learn?
During this training, you will:

  • Learn about the impact of grief including theories of grief.
  • Learn about children’s understanding of death at different ages
  • Discuss different aspects of bereavement support and ways to create a supportive environment.
  • Learn how to develop a bereavement-aware culture.
  • Consider strategies to support bereaved pupils and their peers.
  • Consider ways to manage staff wellbeing.
  • Receive information about Child Bereavement UK and other support organisations, and  resources available.

Before booking on any training, please read our training terms and conditions. We encourage prospective participants to consider their own experience of loss and how it might affect them during training. Our training may not be suited to someone who has experienced a recent bereavement.
