Strategies to prevent disease on your sheep farm by managing lameness and nutrition
Experienced at talking with farmers; IfA’s livestock team will be on-hand to explain to you, in plain terms, what antibiotic resistance actually means and why there is a demand on the industry to reduce the use of antibiotics in livestock.
We will highlight the reduction targets that have been set for the sheep sector, and provide you with practical and achievable tips that can help to prevent disease, save time and money on your farm.
This workshop will focus on three key areas:
Lameness
What is the 5 point plan to control sheep lameness such as foot rot, and how can it help you to achieve levels of <2% lameness in your flock
Nutrition
Why/when/how should you test feed quality
What are some of the benefits of testing feed quality + case studies
Vaccination protocols
Fridge management tips to ensure vaccine effectiveness, and maximise the return on your investment
