"A diverse and exciting day exploring how we can all have a positive impact on climate change"

Please join us as we journey through multiple sub-events exploring the topic of climate change from multiple angles. From within the full range of activities, we hope that there is something for everyone - feel free to register for the full day, or just for the parts that interest you! We only ask that if you register then you make every reasonable effort to attend to avoid others unduly missing out on this great opportunity!

Part 1: 10:00 - 13:00 Climate Fresk Workshop - "Climate Change: how it occurs, how it affects us and what we can do to stop it!"

This is a highly engaging, collaborative, and practical workshop delivered by specially trained facilitators from the Strathclyde Climate Ambassadors’ Network (SCAN). Whilst serving as an excellent educational tool, it's also a marvellous mechanism for meeting new people and sparking friendships! The workshop will be opened with a short guest lecture from Strathclyde's own Professor Keith Bell, before attendees split into small groups of up to 10, each with their own facilitator, to begin the rest of the workshop where the groups will compete to learn about and map out our complex climate system!

Part 2: 13:00 - 15:00 Doctoral Student Poster Session, and Lunch

Browse through a broad collection of research poster presentations, produced by Strathclyde's Doctoral Community, gaining an insight into how the diverse range of research projects at Strathclyde is, or will eventually have, a strong impact on climate change. This session will include a limited number of vegan packed lunches and will be a great opportunity to network and meet Strathclyde's doctoral students! If you are attending as an UG or PGT student, this this will also give you the opportunity to talk to Postgraduate Research students about continuing your education on a PhD, or similar, programme.

Part 3: 15:00 - 17:00 Expert Panel Debate – “Climate change: who's responsible and how do we fix it”

The goal of this sub-event is to bring together a diverse range of expert panellists to answer questions fielded by a moderator and discuss perhaps differing views with each other. The debate will be divided into two main parts: Responsibility and Solutions. If time allows it, the audience will also be invited to ask questions to the panel.

Part 4: 17:00 - ??? Casual Social Event

Finish off the long day with a casual gathering in Strath Union's The Terrace, Bar & Kitchen. A perfect opportunity to socialise with and meet other students! If you are new to Strathclyde, or a seasoned PGR, please join us to end the week. Note that this is still open to all - even those too grumpy, or busy(!), to attend any other part of the day!
