Description

Come along to Straw Free Chester public meeting as part of ‘zero waste’ action week

The campaign to make Chester the UK’s first city to stop using plastic drinking straws is holding a public meeting as part of a “zero waste” action week.

#StrawFreeChester, which was launched by Dr Christian Dunn, is calling for anyone interested in the campaign to attend a meeting on Saturday, January 20 at 6.30pm in the Piper Pub, Hoole.

The three aims of the #StrawFreeChester campaign:

For business and organisations in Chester to only give out a plastic drinking straw if a customer specifically asks for one

For every customer in Chester to only ask for a drinking straw if they really need one

For everyone in Chester to consider using paper or reusable drinking straws

How members of the public in Chester can help:

Don’t ask for a single-use plastic drinking straw when they order a drink

Encourage anywhere that serves drinks in Chester not to use plastic straws

How businesses and organisations serving drink in Chester can help:

Only give out a plastic drinking straw if the customer asks for one

Consider using compostable paper or reusable straws
