Description

The aim of the Street Photography Workshop is to empower your passion and vision as a street photographer which transform the ordinary, everyday experience of life into powerful, memorable images.

Street Photography Workshop Content:

  • Learn how to anticipate the moment
  • Identify locations with suitable subjects
  • Develop confidence in photographing people on the street
  • Select and frame a moving subject
  • Use black and white for atmospheric street photography
  • Explore colour to create impact
  • Use light to shape dramatic street photography
  • Use varying speeds to freeze or enhance movement.
  • Use depth of field for different effects
  • Evaluate your photographs – what worked and what didn’t.

Through demonstration and through your own photography practice, you are taught to use a variety of creative street photography techniques.

Itinerary:

  • We will meet at 9am for coffee, introductions, tuition and a thorough briefing before setting off onto the streets.
  • Our itinerary will take us to photo-rich locations, where we will put into practice some of the principles learned during the morning session.
  • Throughout the day, participants will receive a significant amount of one-to-one tuition and coaching.
  • Individual critique for photos taken on the day is available during the week following the course.
  • After the course, participants will be encouraged to keep in touch.

Equipment:

  • DSLR camera
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Fully charged batteries and empty SD card

I will offer the morning coffee only. Any other food or drinks are not included

After 30 minutes lunch break and we will start the Lightroom class.

The Lightroom class has two goals: organising and enhancing your photographs.

We will take a look at all aspects of the standard digital workflow: focusing on importing, organising, editing and then exporting and sharing your images.

Getting to know the interface

The Library module

  • Importing photos
  • Organising and tagging images
  • Using collections, keywords and filters
  • Comparing and rating your pictures

The Develop module

Get to know the incredible flexibility of Lightroom’s most important module. The intuitive image correction and enhancement interface allows precise adjustments as well as creative improvisations.

  • Change the composition and the aspect ratio of your images
  • Turn them into black-and-white images or adjust their colour spectrum
  • Apply creative filters to make your images come to life in unexpected ways
  • How to sharpen your images

We’ll discuss the principles of image analysis and methods of non-destructive global and local adjustments of exposure, contrast and colours. We’ll talk about the importance of presets and how to use them productively and efficiently to automate processes.

Publishing

  • Exporting images
  • Overview of file formats and their usage
  • Using right resolution and size

Equipment

  • A lap top with Adobe Lightroom 6 CC or Classic CC 7.00 (NOT CLOUD) installed.
