Streetlife London Finale Event
Fri 20 November 2015, 18:30 – 21:00 GMT
Come and join the London Metropolitan Archives for an evening of comedy, poetry and performance inspired by London's glorious streetlife.
Streetlife London: From Chaucer to Banksy is an ambitious new arts project at the London Metropolitan Archives. Artist in Residence Nick Field is exploring the LMA collections relating to the cultural significance and history of London's streetlife.
Working with LMA experts, Nick is exploring aspects of London’s fascinating streetlife; such as street fairs and entertainments, fashions and popular culture, pageants, protests, markets and street art. The streetlife of London reveals so much about the lived experiences of the city and helps us to discover London at its most vital. The streets of London have changed the world, come and discover why.
This event marks the end of the project and will feature performances of work created during it and readings from Nick’s new collection, inspired by the project ‘Cries of London'
Nick will be joined by wonderful, hugely talented and varied performing artists who have been the recipients of micro-commisions for Streetlife London, bringing music, comedy, contemporary performance and poetry. This line-up of Some of the UK’s most exciting artists includes Keith Jay, Jasmine Cooray, Hannah Silva and Ms.Samantha Mann.
*This event will take place at the Crypt On The Green, which is under St. James’ church Clerkenwell Green and opposite the 3 Kings Pub*
