Event description
This course examines the science of strength and gives you tools to be able to apply this to design and deliver classes for your clients.

About this Event

The Spin City Strength & Conditioning Instructor Course will give you important knowledge about strength and conditioning both the theory and the practical so that you can apply this to the work you do with your clients.

This course will aim to provide you with the knowledge to design and deliver safe and effective strength and conditioning programmes and sessions for your pole and aerial students. We will begin by defining strength and conditioning, the benefits and the risks. We’ll then examine specific components of fitness and explore the strength-endurance continuum, understanding sets, reps and rest. Following this we'll delve into programming, taking look at the recommended guidelines for strength training and the principles of exercise. You'll find a whole unit devoted to Pole and Aerial specific examples, which we will cover in depth on during the practical elements of the course - this is divided into Pole, Aerial Hoop, Aerial Fabric and Floor-Based exercises. Finally, the course finishes by looking at class planing - incorporating strength and conditioning into your existing Pole and Aerial classes, or as stand-alone sessions.

This is a blended learning course that requires pre-course reading and completion of a multiple choice assessment before the face to face course date.

  • Pre-course reading: 8-10 hours
  • Completion of pre-course tasks/assessment prep: 4-6 hours
  • Recommended practice hours: 20-40 hours (e.g. attending classes/workshops/shadowing/co-teaching/working with a mentor/lesson observations)
  • Face to face course duration: 8 hours (9am-5pm)

Pre-Requisites: Recommended for existing instructor of Pole and Aerial, or those with equivalent fitness certifications.

Pre-Course Tasks: Please note, you will be required to read the theory section of this course before attending.
