Event description

Description

The Strengthening Engagement project will hold a half day collaborative workshop event in Midlothian on the 31st October 2017. The project, which the Criminal Justice Voluntary Sector Forum has run with Scottish Government funding since summer 2015, seeks to establish and strengthen relationships between the third sector and statutory partners under the new community justice arrangements, with a particular focus on third sector involvement in planning of and reporting on community justice. For a full description of the project and for an overview of its previous activities please see the project website.

This event is open to all third sector organisations working in the Midlothian local authority area who provide services to or promote the interests of all those involved the justice system, including victims and families, as well as all statutory partners under the Community Justice (Scotland) Act 2016. Especially welcome are those organisations who might not consider themselves to be working in "justice" but whose work provides services relating to employability, homelessness, or addiction, for example, that work regularly with those in the justice system.

The project will host a half day collaborative workshop event at the Penicuik Town Hall, Penicuik, that will bring together statutory and third sector partners involved in community justice across the Midlothian area. The event will serve as an opportunity for partners to meet one another and will focus on understanding the current relationships that exist in Midlothian and how the third sector can be included in community justice processes in future.
