Stress Management Workshop

Workshop overview

With stress-related legal claims forecast to increase, stress injury can be costly and benefits neither employer nor employee.

Created by lawyers with extensive experience of litigation in this area, this one-day workshop will enable managers and HR professionals to understand how best to avoid legal claims from employees suffering occupational stress.

The workshop will cover the effective management of employees displaying stress symptoms caused by work pressures, bullying or harassment. It will also provide practical solutions, explaining the employer’s responsibilities throughout the process, from first presentation of symptoms to return to work or management out of the business.

Presenters

Paul Jackson, Solicitor

Paul Jackson has 35 years experience in litigation, predominantly in work-related injury and disease claims, as a solicitor. He was a partner in two national law firms.

At the time of his retirement from practice in April 2016 he was one of a handful of claimant personal injury lawyers in the UK specialising exclusively in occupational stress claims. He now lectures at Leeds Law School, Leeds Beckett University.

Simon Anderson, Barrister (Park Square Barristers, Leeds)

Simon is a barrister in private practice on the North Eastern Circuit. He practices from Park Square Barristers, 6 Park Square East, Leeds.

He was called to the Bar in 1997. For the past decade he has specialised in all aspects of employer’s liability, in particular, equality law and disease claims. Occupational Stress forms a substantial part of his current practice. He is regularly instructed by local authorities and national firms of solicitors. His clients include blue chip companies, the NHS litigation Authority, chief constables, universities and insurers.

He is a member of the Personal Injury Bar Association and the Employment Law Association.
