Stress Resilience: A Transformational Approach, 4-Week Course, Cardiff, March 2019

Often we struggle with or try to avoid the things that cause us stress. On this course we offer a different approach. You will learn to build stress resilience through clarifying what really matters to you (your values) and letting yourself be motivated and guided by these values. This transformative approach encourages you to get into the driving seat of your own life. An experiential, evidence-based course based on Mindfulness and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Training).

A collaboration between Mindful Space and the Stress Resilience Partnership.

The trainers

Andy Wilson (MSc Counselling, Bristol; MBA, Warwick; BA, Psychology, Durham; PGCE, UWE) is a counsellor, coach, supervisor and trainer based in Cardiff. He has an evidence-informed approach, in particular drawing on ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Training) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (Greenberg and Elliot). Andy has attended ACT training with Russ Harris, Steve Hayes and Kelly Wilson.

Vicki Worsley is an experienced meditator, counsellor, teacher and trainer. She trained in mindfulness with Jon Kabat-Zinn (USA), Thich Nhat Hanh (France) and at Bangor University. Vicki has attended Mindful Self-Compassion training with Christopher Germer and Kristin Neff. She has an MA in Buddhist Studies from Bristol University.

Who is the course for?
The course is aimed at anyone who would like to build stress resilience skills. It is also suitable for therapists and health professionals who support others.

Course content

The course draws on ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Training) and Mindfulness (MBSR/MBCT) approaches. It will be an opportunity to reflect on your experience of facing stress triggers and learn new ways of responding to these. This practical course includes input, techniques and exercises you can take away, discussion and experiential awareness activities.

Learning Environment
A central part of the learning on this workshop will take place between students, in the group. For this learning to take place it is essential that the group environment is comfortable, friendly and supportive. We see it as a key part of our role to facilitate this environment.

If you’d like to do some reading on the topic we recommend Full Catastrophe Living, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Mindfulness, Finding Peace in a Frantic World, Williams, The Happiness Trap by Russ Harris and Get out of your Head and into your Life, Steve Hayes.

What is the refund policy?

You can cancel your registration up until the first day of the course. There is a cancellation fee of 40%. Once the course has started it's not possible to cancel your place.

Is my registration transferrable?

It's not possible to transfer this registration to another event. You will need to cancel this booking and then rebook on the new event.
