Welcome to the String Orchestra Workshop Day in Cambridge!


Are you passionate about playing the violin, viola, cello, or double bass? Join us for a fun-filled day of music and learning!

Our workshop is designed for string players grade 6/7 and above.

You'll have the opportunity to improve your skills, learn new techniques, and connect with fellow musicians in a supportive environment while learning string orchestra repetoire.

Where can I park?

There is limited parking at the venue but there is lots of on street parking

Who is Cameron Smith?

Cameron Smith is an established freelance cellist with extensive chamber music and orchestral experience. He regularly works with some of the country's leading orchestras, including the CBSO and the BBC Concert Orchestra. He has tutored numerous ensembles and string groups across East Anglia.

What should I bring with me?

Please bring a music stand, any lunch and snacks you may want, and if you're a cello player, you will need an anti-slide spike holder. If you're a double bassist, please bring your own chair.

I'm under 18 can I take part?

We're sorry to say that we cannot accept players who are under 18 at this time

I don't have a grade 6 or higher exam result can I still take part?

Yes, we don't require a formal certificate to show what grade you are. However, we do ask that you are comfortable playing repertoire that is on the Grade 6 syllabus and/or have had equivalent experience playing in orchestras or string orchestras recently.
