An Indian classical musician of the highest order, Ameen Ali Khan belongs to the seventh generation of great musicians. His father was the celebrated Sarod artist Ustad Rehmat Ali Khan, his uncle the Sarod Maestro, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Ameen's passionate and captivating playing is known for its aesthetic purity and tradition, and cannot fail to delight and excite.

The Sarod traces its origin back to the folk instrument of ancient Afghanistan and Persia, the 'Rabab'. It is a short-necked, unfretted, waisted lute carved from a single block of teak with over 20 strings and famously demanding to play. Along with the sitar, the Sarod is the most popular and prominent instrument in Hindustani classical music, known for a deep, introspective sound, resonant and reverberant.

Throughout his career Ameen has devoted himself to carrying on his long family tradition and sharing his music with the younger generation. As well as touring extensively in India, he has also performed at numerous venues in the United Kingdom including the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (Glasgow), Edinburgh, Aberdeen and the famous Cadogan Hall and The Nehru Centre in London.
