Event description

Description

Dear all,

Prof. Catherine Lang is a professor specialising in physical / occupational therapy and neurology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, USA. She will be visiting the University in June and speaking about her research in a lecture entitled:

Stroke Rehabilitation Research Adventures

Date: Tuesday, 27th June 2017
Time: 5-6 pm
Venue: Building 45 Room 0045 Highfield Campus

All are welcome to attend!

Below is an abstract of Catherine's talk:

This talk will provide an overview of two ongoing lines of research in the laboratory. The first one is a 10+ year investigation into dosing in stroke rehabilitation. Prof. Lang will share their steps along the pathway and then results from a recently completed clinical trial examining the influence of dose of movement training on upper limb functional outcomes. The second line of research investigates exogenous and endogenous agents that might be employed to magnify the benefits of movement training. Prof. Lang will share the early steps of this work, mechanistic barriers to design, and results to date from two agents. These two lines of research serve as solid examples of the endless adventures, challenges, and joys of studying the human model of stroke.
