The latest Building Safety Act 2022 has introduced a new regime for managing building safety risks in existing High Risk Buildings. The two main categories to be considered are risks of fire and risks of structural failure. This means that the Principal Accountable Person (PAP) is now required to have a greater understanding of all aspects associated with structural safety and structural integrity of their building. This talk will outline the criteria for understanding the building with the aim of assessing its risk of structural failure, as well as the key principles to follow when approaching the risk assessment. Finally, the talk will focus on the actions and measures the PAP is expected to take to reduce/manage risks of structural failure and the arrangements to manage structural integrity of the building.
