Description

On March 1st José L. Rodríguez Blancas from the University of Almería, Spain will deliver a student colloquium at King's College London.

Title: The Geometry of Soap Bubbles in Action

Abstract: I will show some of the best known minimal surfaces and figures that can be realised with soapy water. I will talk about some isoperimetric problems using threads, and about Plateau’s laws using artistic figures. In this presentation, I will mention famous mathematicians who have studied the geometry and topology of such surfaces throughout history, and applications in architecture, engineering, etc.

Refreshments will follow the colloquium, all are welcome!

You do not have to register to attend this event, however please RSVP by February 23rd to ensure we order a suitable amount of catering.
