About this event

This booking form is now out of use. Links to new booking forms below:

Weekly Covid testing is now available for students and colleagues who have returned to campus. You are advised to now book two tests per week if you are on campus for face-to-face learning (for courses in the list of exceptions listed here) or if you have returned to term-time student accommodation, to help us control the spread of the virus.

If you are a Burnley student or colleague please book your tests here.

If you are a Westlakes student or colleague please book your tests here .

Please do not eat or drink 30-minutes before your test.

Who the tests are open to

The free Lateral Flow Covid tests are open to students whose teaching is face-to-face on campus, or who are on placement, and those who have returned to their term time student accommodation.

The free Lateral Flow tests are also available to members of staff who are working on campus, please book using this form and bring your staff ID.

Lateral Flow Tests are rapid turnaround tests that you take yourself with the kit provided. The tests are processed on site without the need for laboratory equipment and your results will be provided by email or text within 30 to 60 minutes. The two tests are free and must be carried out three days apart, meaning you will need to book two slots.

Lateral Flow Tests are meant for people who do not show symptoms and who are not close contacts of confirmed cases. Please do not turn up for these tests if you are at the time showing symptoms of Covid-19 as you must immediately self-isolate and book an NHS Test. If you have already booked a test at the University please go back onto the Eventbrite system and cancel it.

The advice for international students travelling from overseas for the new term is to consider whether you need to travel to the UK at this time. You should consider delaying if travel arrangements can be rearranged without undue costs. Please remember all international arrivals must complete a passenger locator form on arrival in the UK, and passengers travelling from a country not on the exemption (travel corridor) list will need to self-isolate in their accommodation for 10 days. There is now the option to take a COVID-19 test from a private testing provider (at your own cost) after 5 days of self-isolation, with a negative result releasing you from the need to continue to self-isolate.

Booking your time slots

The Preston Campus University Covid testing site will open in Foster Building from Monday 4 January and you will need to book a timeslot. Please arrive on time for your slots and enter Foster Building via the refectory fire doors to the left of the main entrance.

• You will need to book two time slots as you are required to take two tests, which are free and must be carried out three days apart

• On booking your tests you will receive a confirmation email. Your test days and times will be displayed under 'Registration Information' near the end of the email. Please scroll down the email to view them

• Two tests should be taken per week. If you have not yet returned to face-to-face teaching/learning, you must ensure that you take your first test prior to return and then on an ongoing basis twice a week. (see information on when your school will start face-to-face learning here)

• If you can no longer attend your test, please cancel or amend your booking by clicking the 'view and manage' link on your confirmation email or log into Eventbrite

• Create an account to save your details before you arrive by visiting gov.uk/enter-lateral-flow-test

Taking the test

You will take the Lateral Flow Test yourself, but you must arrive wearing a face covering and must keep two metres apart. Please bring your student ID and a mobile device to access the government website where you will register your details. The University will not have access to your data, information or test results on this website.

When you arrive for your test

• Enter the test site in Foster Building via the fire doors to the left of the main entrance and visit the registration desk where you will receive a test card (with QR code) and copies of your barcode.

• Scan QR code on the test card and register online. If your device does not recognise the QR code, please go to gov.uk/enter-lateral-flow-test on your mobile web browser

• You will then be directed to the next available booth where you will find your test kit

• Pass the remaining 3 barcodes to the UCLan representative and self-administer swab

• Pass the swab through the screen to a UCLan representative for processing

• Leave test site (with barcode attached to test card). We anticipate you will be in the test centre for up to 30 minutes and will receive your result usually within 60 minutes via email and text. Please act on your result

What to do with your test results

Two negative test results mean you can return to your face-to-face studies when they restart, but you must continue to follow the current local guidelines and maintain social distancing.

• If the first lateral flow test is negative, you should limit your social contact and interaction with other students until you receive a second negative test result but you can return to face-to-face sessions after one test and continue to maintain strict 2m social distance, wear a mask and practice good infection control practices (as should always be the case), while you await your second test.

• If your second test is also negative, you can continue your normal day-to-day activities in line with national or regional social distancing guidance.

• A positive result will require you to immediately act upon the advice on the message from Test & Trace. Your test results and your data will not be shared with the University but you are required to notify us if you have tested positive by completing this form immediately. If you are advised to get an NHS PCR test and that is also positive, you are required by law to self-isolate for 10 days after you first develop symptoms, or from the date of your test if asymptomatic.

• If you receive a void result or do not receive a result after 2 hours please book another test as soon as you can and return for a repeat test.

• Your test results and your data will not be shared with the University but you are required to notify us if you have tested positive by completing this form immediately. If the PCR test is also positive, you are required by law to self-isolate for 10 days after you first develop symptoms, or from the date of your test if asymptomatic.

If you have further questions about the student Covid testing process and what your results will mean, please visit the Student Support pages where we have further information and useful frequently asked questions. If you require additional information, please email StudentTesting@uclan.ac.uk

Your test results and your data will not be shared with the University but you are required to notify us if you have tested positive by completing this form immediately.
