Student Nurses' Talk

Student Nurses’ Talk is a forum developed by London South Bank University (LSBU), University of East London (UEL) and Health Education England (HEE). There will be a monthly talk and the forum will initially run from Sept 2021 - July 2022.

We recognise the challenges that student nurses encounter during their education and its impact on attrition rates (i.e., drop out off the course). The Covid19 pandemic has exposed further issues students face due to social inequalities and social justice issues which impact on student nurses’ education and progress on the course.

Listening to student nurses’ experience can help us to change and steer nurse education in a way that reduces attrition and develop future leaders of the profession at the same time producing a nursing workforce that is supported by nurse leaders.

Each month, we'll feature a range of incredible guest speakers and your regular hosts will be:

The forum aims to provide a space for student nurses to connect with each other and nursing leaders. Its focus is to listen to student nurses experience and examine ways to improve these experiences.

We want to...

• Develop a safe space for student nurses to interact and share experiences pertaining to nurse education
• Connect student nurses nationally and internationally through shared professional experiences
• Look at ways of improving support for student nurses based on shared experiences

• 19 May 2022 - International Networking for student nurses
• 16 June 2022 - Recognising LGBT peoples’ contribution to nursing
• 21 July 2022 - Recharging and relaxing
