Event description

Description

Ian Williamson trained as a Child and Adolescent analyst at the Society of Analytical Psychology in the 1980’s after a career working with troubled children in a variety of health care settings. He spent several years working for the NHS at a number of Child and Family centres before going into full time private practice 15 years ago.

Talk content:

We are in the midst of a technological revolution that is changing the way our children relate to each other, to us, and to the world around them. It is perfectly possible to imagine that within a generation these new technologies might have more influence over our children’s lives than we do as parents. This is a whole new world for us as parents. We often feel powerless in the face of their relentless colonization of family life.

While the media focuses more on the car crashes that occur as a result of this revolution I want to look at the way they take over our children’s lives often to the detriment of their mental health. I also want to share some ideas about what we might do to protect them. What needs to be made clear is that doing nothing isn’t an option.
